ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – The most valuable bottle of bourbon in America was sold at auction Thursday night in Elizabethtown.
The first bottle of bourbon produced by the new Boundary Oak Distillery in the Hardin County community sold for a record $25,500 plus a 10 percent buyer’s fee for a total of $28,050.
Proceeds will benefit the charity of the winning bidder’s choice: Helping Hand of Hope, a community service of the Elizabethtown Ministerial Association. The buyer has chosen to remain anonymous.
A check will be presented to Helping Hand of Hope at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the Elizabethtown Tourism Center.
Boundary Oak recently began making the first legally-produced bourbon in Hardin County in more than 100 years.
